The Rector of Epoka University, Prof. Dr. Remzi Altın: It is the right moment for the reform in Higher Education

The Rector of Epoka University, Prof. Dr. Remzi Altın in an interview for Top Channel has appreciated the initiative of the Ministry of Education for the reform in higher education, considering it at the right time to carry out the necessary reforms. According to him, it is important that higher education institutions should be able to respond to the challenges they face. Prof. Altın noted that this reform should be followed with the modernization of the higher education system, curriculums and its infrastructure. According to him, one of the main features of the Epoka University is its international dimension.

"It is the right moment to conduct reform in higher education and to control the legality. It is important that higher education institutions in Albania should be able to respond to the challenges they face, to the required modernization of education management system, curriculum and infrastructure. One of the main characteristics of Epoka University is its international dimension in order to provide international perspectives for students, making easy to be employed not only in Albanian market, but also in international market and be successful”, prof. Altın noted.

Prof. Altın also noted that Epoka University is ready to welcome students from the closed university, but he highlighted the fact that the Epoka University applies its admission criteria and one of them is the knowledge of the English language because offers its academic program in this language.

For students who come from other universities, Prof. Altın says that they will be subject of an interview by the scientific committee, according to the relevant departments of the university. "We are ready to welcome students from universities that have already been closed, but we and our criteria. As all of instruction is English, all applicants are required to demonstrate proficiency in English. One of our main criteria for freshmen students is the required High School GPA, which should be over 8.00. For students who come from other universities, they should have the minimum average 7 and then a scientific committee, according to the relevant departments, will interview them”, Prof. Altın stressed.
