January 18th, 2018

On January 19th 2018 the Department of Architecture organized an open lecture held by Dr. Francesco Mancini.

Peter Eisenman is one of the most controversial architects and educators over the past 50 years. Although his methodology is distant from traditional approaches – social, historical, aesthetic and functional - he has been constantly questioning the role of these categories through his work and his writings, investigating possible contributions from philosophy, literature, visual arts and science to the redefinition of the role of architecture in today’s world. This lecture focuses on the central role that the study of Italian Architectural Culture has played in Eisenman' s interest for Theory, History and Critique as an essential reference for his work.

“I am not difficult. Architecture is.”–Peter Eisenman
